Man United ready to go back for shock deadline day target

Manchester United are looking to revive their surprise deadline day move for Olympiakos full-back Omar Elabdellaoui this summer, according to reports from Gazzetta.

The Norway international – who spent time as a youth player at Manchester City – emerged as a late option for the Red Devils on Monday, but a proposed loan deal didn’t come to fruition.

However, even though Elabdellaoui was thought to be a cover option, reports claim that he remains on the club’s hit-list heading into the next window.

The 24-year-old is able to play at both right-back and in a more advanced role on the same flank, and has flourished in Greece after a slightly nomadic opening to his career, which saw him make loan moves to his homeland, the Netherlands and Germany.

United are currently suffering with a host of injuries, with full-backs such as Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw both out of action.
