Man United ready to use flop to land Argentine ace

Manchester United are closing in on a £16m swoop for Benfica’s Nicolas Gaitan, and could include Bebe as part of the deal, according to reports from Record.

Louis van Gaal is known to be looking to draft in a top class attacking midfielder to inject some spark into his side’s forward line, and he sees the Argentine as a good option.

Gaitan starred for Benfica last term as they clinched the Portuguese league title and narrowly missed out on claiming the Europa League.

United have been watching the silky wide-man for some time, and now LVG is ready to pounce.

The Lisbon side are rumoured to be looking to get at least £16m for their man, but the Red Devils may look to include Bebe to lower the fee.

The flop winger – who has been hailed as one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s worst ever signings – spent last season on loan at Pacos de Ferreira, and was impressive.

Benfica are said to be keen on him, but wage demands may be an issue.

Meanwhile, Gaitan is also attracting attention from Zenit Saint Petersburg.
