Man United set to name new boss next week

Louis van Gaal is expected to be named as Manchester United’s new manager next week, according to reports from The Express.

The current Holland chief has been tipped as the favourite to succeed David Moyes since his recent sacking, with some rumours suggesting that a deal in principle has been sealed for some time.

Van Gaal is said to have been playing hard ball with United recently, and is understood to have put a deadline of next Wednesday in place if they really want him as their next chief.

And now with other targets such as Carlo Ancelotti appearing unlikely to take the job, the Premier League champions are ready to make their plans official.

The 62-year-old will see out his position as the Netherlands’ head coach for the World Cup before turning his full attention to United, but he is set to be involved in their transfer plans before that time.

Ryan Giggs – current interim manager – is yet to have his role within the club clarified, however it is expected that both parties will come to a mutual arrangement for the Welshman,

Van Gaal is already thought to have a list of transfer targets in mind, with Borussia Dortmund pair Mats Hummels and Marco Reus priorities.

Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos is another name in the mix, while some reports suggest that a mega money raid for PSG superstar Edinson Cavani could be on the cards.
