Manchester United are interested in taking Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon this summer, according to a report from Le10 Sport, via the Manchester Evening News.

What's the story, then?

Despite the fact that Lyon only confirmed the midfielder's permanent arrival after a successful loan spell earlier this summer, the MEN report that Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing Ndombele to Old Trafford swiftly.

The report also says that 50m euros (£43.9m) is the fee that would tempt the French outfit to part company with their new recruit already.

They also write that a swoop for Ndombele could pave the way for the departure of Ander Herrera, with former club Athletic Bilbao sniffing around and preparing a bid of their own.

Golovin is a better option

Aleksandr Golovin has been one of the breakout stars of the World Cup so far and should come in as a cheaper alternative to Ndombele, who would have to be a special talent to justify Mourinho swooping before he has even played for Lyon since his permanent arrival.

Herrera is such a popular figure among the fans that although they will broadly acknowledge that he can be upgraded upon, the quality must be correct in order to justify the move.
