Man United star admits nobody is safe at Old Trafford

Darren Fletcher admits nobody is safe at Manchester United this summer as David Moyes plans for a £200m overhaul of the squad, according to the Express.

United’s season all but ended with defeat to Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night, and Fletcher reckons the squad must prove they are worthy of a future with the club over the remaining five games of the season.

“The boys have got to play well to stay in the manager’s thoughts for next season,” Fletcher said.

“There is talk of a lot of changes and I fully expect there to be some signings.

“So if you get an opportunity to play you have to go out there and perform and to show the manager that you want to be at United, that you are capable of being at United and you are good enough.

“A lot of people will say there isn’t a lot to play for now, but there is. You are playing for personal pride and to be in the squad for next season.”

Meanwhile, David Moyes insists United’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League will not effect their chances of signing top players this summer.

“We are looking to spend the right money on players who are available and it [whether they join] is nothing to do with the Champions League,” Moyes said.

“Any players we have quietly discussed it with are more than happy to join United because they know it is a long-term thing.”
