David de Gea has told close friends that the chance to move away from Manchester United back to his homeland to play for Real Madrid and cement his spot as Spain’s No. 1 will be too good to turn down, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils star has been, arguably, Louis van Gaal’s best performer this season, with his heroics between the sticks a major factor in the club’s current top four berth.
However, his United future has been unclear for some time, with Real thought to have made him their prime target to replace veteran stopper Iker Casillas.
De Gea, whose contract expires in 2016, has been offered a fresh £200,000-per-week deal, but his reluctance to commit has fuelled rumours he could move on.
And now reports suggest that he’s ready to join Real, with the goalkeeper having told close friends that he would be unable to reject the chance to play for Los Blancos.
Even though he broke through with bitter cross-city rivals Atletico, the chance to further his claims to be Spain’s main ‘keeper is a big factor.
