The Spanish giants and winners of last season’s Champions League have long been linked with a move for De Gea, and with no news on a new contract being signed at Old Trafford it has appeared increasingly likely that the Spanish shot-stopper will swap Manchester for Madrid once the summer transfer window opens.
Indeed, today’s reports suggest that De Gea has agreed a move to the Bernabeu despite the presence of club legend Iker Casillas, who has been at Real for the entirety of his career.
De Gea was recently nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award in recognition of his outstanding season for the Red Devils, in which he has played a key role in their push for a top four spot under coach Louis van Gaal.
