Man United still in the battle for moving Dutch ace

Manchester United are still in the fight for Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder, according to reports from The Express.

The 30-year-old is expected to leave Galatasaray this month amid suggestions that his time in Istanbul has turned sour, with Juventus said to be his most likely destination.

The Serie A champions are understood to be close to an agreement with the expert pass-master, yet Turkish manager Muhsin Ertugral believes that Sneijder could yet link up with his former Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal at United:

“I know Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Wesley Sneijder.

“I know Louis Van Gaal is interested.

“This is what is being said behind the scenes but in my opinion if Galatasaray let him go they will not be able to replace him with a player of the same quality.”

LVG and Sneijder are known to have a good working relationship from their time together in the Oranje set-up, and United have been linked with the experienced midfielder on a number of occasions over the course of the past few years.
