Man United target Juventus enforcer

Manchester United are ready to make a January move for Juventus defender Angelo Ogbonna, according to reports from TuttoMercatoWeb.

The Red Devils are believed to have made a new centre-back their prime target for the winter transfer window, with the failure to do so over the summer having left Louis van Gaal with a lack of options so far this term.

A number of names have been mentioned, and now Ogbonna is on the list.

The 6ft. 3” enforcer is seen as a good option by LVG, who has grown concerned at the lack of a physical presence in his backline.

Ogbonna’s availability depends on his first-team chances at Juve at the turn of the year, with the 26-year-old likely to push for a switch if he’s not a regular started under Massimiliano Allegri.

United and Juventus have a frosty relationship as it stands, which may be a stumbling block.

The two clubs grew annoyed at the Arturo Vidal saga during the last transfer window, with the Old Lady irritated by the Premier League side’s consistent attempts to lure the Chilean away, while the English giants were irked by the speed at which negotiations moved.
