The Red Devils are believed to be ready to embark on a ‘Galactico’ era, with the club’s owners keen to expand the global profile and value of the team.
Angel di Maria’s signature over the summer is widely seen as the first signal of such intent, with the Argentine having cost almost £60m – a massive fee for an outfit outside of the Champions League.
Gareth Bale has been linked with a move to become United’s next big name star, yet reports now indicate that Louis van Gaal’s side are tracking Muller and Pogba.
The top target appears to be Muller, who has recently been made available to Real Madrid for £45m.
United were linked with a swoop for him over the summer, and have been buoyed by the German World Cup winner’s role in Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola’s rotation plans.
Pogba is also on the agenda, despite his £77m price tag.
The France midfielder, who left Old Trafford as a youngster, has emerged as one of Europe’s finest defensive midfielders with Juventus, attracting attention from the likes of PSG and Chelsea.
Pogba recently signed a new contract, yet his agent, Mino Raiola, has hinted that a future deal could be done:
“For his age and how much he can improve he’s among the best in the world. But the price always depends on the possible buyer…”
One issue could be the 21-year-old’s feelings towards United, whom he feels failed to give him a fair chance at first-team football.
