Manchester United are plotting to beat bitter rivals Liverpool to Lazio ace Felipe Anderson, with reports from The Telegraph claiming Louis van Gaal’s chief scout was sent to Italy to watch him over the weekend.
The Brazilian forward has recently emerged as a target for the Merseysiders, but LVG – who masterminded a 2-1 win at Anfield on Sunday – is keen to win the race for him.
Anderson only signed a new contract with the Rome side last week, but reports claim that United are still looking at him as a potential summer addition.
Chief scout Jim Lawlor was sent to watch the marksman during Lazio’s weekend game, in which he netted against Verona.
The Serie A side may demand around £30m for their star man, but should United qualify for the Champions League they’re likely to have the funds to pursue him.
