Manchester United will step up their attempts to sign Ajax keeper Jasper Cillessen to replace David De Gea, The Mirror have reported.
Louis van Gaal has asked his goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek to draw up a list of potential replacements for Madrid bound De Gea and Cillessen is suggested to be at the top.
De Gea is seemingly set for a summer move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and Van Gaal is preparing for life after the Spaniard.
Hoek is a trusted adviser for Van Gaal and was pivotal in persuading the then Netherlands coach to give the Ajax stopper his international bow in 2013.
Cillessen played a pivotal role in Holland’s run to the World Cup semi-finals, playing in all games, bar the penalty shoot out victory over Costa Rica.
He has put in some fantastic displays for Ajax and the Amsterdam club are bracing themselves for a bid from Old Trafford.
