Manchester United are ready to make Edinson Cavani their joint highest paid player this summer with a £300,000-per-week contract as they plot to beat Arsenal to the Paris Saint-Germain striker’s signature, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The 28-year-old Uruguay international has emerged as a top target for the Red Devils of late, with rumours having indicated that the club are looking to offload both Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie at the end of the season.
The pair have just 14 Premier League goals between them this term and Louis van Gaal is thought to be eyeing fresher options.
Cavani is seen as the ideal replacement, but Arsenal’s interest in him is a potential issue.
However, United are ready to blow the Londoners out of the water by offering Cavani £300,000-per-week, putting him on a par with captain, and highest Old Trafford earner, Wayne Rooney.
Falcao and Van Persie both earn hefty salaries, so their possible exits should free up funds for the move.
PSG want around £60m for their man, who is contracted to them until 2018.
