Man United to make record swoop before deadline

Manchester United are ready to table a British record £60m offer for Juventus’ Paul Pogba before the transfer window closes, according to reports from The Express.

The France international has been heavily linked with both Chelsea and Arsenal of late after emerging as one of the very best midfielders in European football.

Pogba left United as a youngster on a free transfer after growing frustrated at a lack of first-team action under then boss Sir Alex Ferguson, and has since thrived – helping Juve to two Serie A titles – since his 2012 move.

United have been linked with a summer move to bring him back to Old Trafford of late, yet now The Express claim that a bid is set to be lodged next week as the Red Devils go about beating the transfer deadline.

A £60m fee – which will narrowly break the record figure paid for Angel di Maria last year – will be presented to the Old Lady, while Pogba himself will be offered wages in the region of £7m-per-year to head back to Manchester.
