Man United to sign Liverpool target ‘within two weeks’

Manchester United are confident of securing a shock deal for Victor Valdes within the next two weeks, according to reports from The Metro.

The Spaniard – who is a free agent after seeing out his contract with Barcelona over the summer – has spent this week training with the Red Devils after being heavily linked with a switch to Liverpool.

The Anfield club were believed to be keen to offer him a route back into football, but reports suggest that a dispute surrounding a trial to assess his injured knee scuppered the deal.

Valdes has missed the majority of 2014 with an ACL problem, yet he’s thought to be close to returning to match fitness.

And United are confident that they can land his services.

Reports have suggested that Valdes himself has rejected an approach from Louis van Gaal’s side, yet now it’s though that an agreement could well be reached with the stopper’s agent talking to Old Trafford chiefs.

The experienced ‘keeper has won just about every prize available to him at club and international level in a glittering career, and could be used as David de Gea’s understudy.
