Manchester United have suffered a massive set-back in their bid to lure Marquinhos to the Premier League, with reports from Le 10 Sport claiming that he’s ready to pen a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
The 20-year-old Brazil international has emerged as a target for the Red Devils of late, amid suggestions that he’s grown frustrated at playing a back-up role to team-mates, and compatriots, David Luiz and Thiago Silva in the French capital.
United were recently linked with a transfer deadline day move to land the youngster for around £35m, and despite missing out they have remained keen on him ahead of the looming summer window.
However, it’s now claimed that Marquinhos is on the verge of committing his future to the Ligue 1 champions, with a fresh five-year deal close.
The contract will tie him to PSG until 2020, and could well thwart any chance United may have had to secure his services.
