Man United to use ‘ugly’ star to land Liverpool target

Manchester United are pondering a stunning swap deal involving Angel di Maria and Liverpool target Ezequiel Lavezzi of Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports from The Express.

The Red Devils’ record signing – he was snapped up from Real Madrid in a £59.7m deal last year – has endured a difficult period at Old Trafford after a promising opening few months to his career, and was even branded too “ugly” to stay at the Bernabeu by former Barcelona coach Carles Rexach recently to cap a difficult time in his career.

And now Louis van Gaal is seemingly ready to ditch the attacker, with a potential swap deal including Lavezzi an option.

The 29-year-old PSG man is also wanted by Liverpool, but the Dutchman is hopeful that offering the Parisians’ long-term target Di Maria as part of an agreement could tilt the scales in his favour.

With Lavezzi due to be a free agent at the end of next season, it’s likely that the Ligue 1 champions will have to pay a significant fee to United for such an arrangement.
