Man United told to forget about Argentine ace

The agent of Manchester United target Nicolas Otamendi, Jorge Mendes, has told the Premier League giants to forget about a deal for his client this month, according to reports from Goal.

The Argentine star has emerged as a centre-back target for Louis van Gaal in recent times following his impressive start to the season with Los Che.

Otamendi – signed by Valencia before the arrival of mega rich owner Peter Lim – spent some of last season on loan with Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro, building on his burgeoning reputation after a spell with Porto.

He has since switched to the Mestalla, where he is thought to f as a fans’ favourite thanks to his committed playing style.

LVG is understood to be looking at the centre-back as he plots to add more steel to his backline, but his release clause of £37.5m and Valencia’s new-found wealth are issues.

United are reported to have approached Mendes to discuss the possibility of the South American heading to Old Trafford, but the well-known agent told the club there’s no chance of a deal happening.
