Man United told to pay £56m for World Cup ace

Real Madrid have told Manchester United that they will need to pay £56m to land Angel di Maria, according to reports from The Express.

The Argentine attacker has emerged as one of Louis van Gaal’s top targets for the coming months in recent weeks, with the Dutchman ready to add a top-class talent to his forward line.

Di Maria has been impressive for his country at the World Cup but despite his showings in Brazil, Real are ready to cash in.

However, they will not let their man go on the cheap, and want a deal worth up to £56m for him.

United are known to have cash to spend – LVG’s budget could be up to £200m – and Los Blancos are keen to use this to get much needed funds in to secure Colombian stars Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez.

PSG and Arsenal are also understood to be interested, but United could be the most tempting option for the 26-year-old, who has been linked with moves to Old Trafford in the past.

Di Maria is able to play on either flank and was impressive in a central role for Real towards the end of last season.
