Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has cooled speculation that his club will revive their interest in Manchester United’s David de Gea this summer.
The Spain international was heavily linked with a switch to the Bernabeu last year, but, despite terms having been agreed between the two sides and the player himself, paperwork issues saw the swoop fall through.
It has since been widely speculated that the La Liga giants would revive their interest this year, even though De Gea penned a new contract at Old Trafford not long after his proposed Real transfer fell through.
However, when quizzed on the situation regarding the Man United stopper and keeping faith with current No.1, Keylor Navas, by Marca, Perez was dismissive, claiming that having two top class options in the position in question may be difficult to balance:
“I am not the one who has to decide,
“I would say it is very difficult to manage two great players in this position.”
Navas enjoyed a fine season with Real despite having almost been pushed to Man United as part of the deal for De Gea, performing admirably as the club secured their 11th European Cup.
