Manchester United’s 3-1 victory over Burnley last night appeared to be a lot more comfortable than it really was.
Old Trafford boss Louis Van Gaal is still struggling to get his mult-million squad firing on all cylinders since taking over from David Moyes in the summer, despite throwing over £150million and squad reinforcements before the end of the the summer transfer window slammed shut.
And Van Gaal has been especially critical of his team’s performances of late, despite getting results. And it’s no wonder he’s not convinced about his side’s title credentials when his two superstar strikers, Robin Van Persie and Falcao failed to register a single shot on goal in the first hour of their win over Premier League strugglers Burnley at Old Trafford last night.
Van Persie did manage to get himself on the scoresheet via the penalty spot to secure all three points and lift United in to the third, but surely that’s not good enough for a side who are so used to winning silverware, attracting the world’s best players to the club and dominating European football?
Sir Alex Ferguson would be absolutely fuming…
