Man United’s ‘mystery target’ one of Europe’s hottest forwards

Manchester United’s ‘mystery’ summer striker target is Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports from Metro.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that he has a forward signing in the pipeline, but that it’s “not the striker the media has written about”.

Thomas Muller and Edinson Cavani have been heavily linked with moves to Old Trafford from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain respectively, but LVG’s words suggest that the German and Uruguayan are not the men he wants, and reports claim that Lacazette is actually the name on his agenda.

The France international notched a whopping 29 goals in all competitions for Lyon last term, with his 27 in Ligue 1 action making them the third most deadly marksman in any of Europe’s top five league – only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi scored more.

A swoop would come as a shock given that the 24-year-old recently revealed that he’s keen to stay at the Stade Gerland, but Fabian Delph’s amazing U-turn to join Manchester City last week proves that such incidents can occur.
