With Radamel Falcao having netted just four goals this season, Robin van Persie nearing the end of his career at 31 and Wayne Rooney shifting back to a midfield role, it’s fair to say, despite a £150m summer spend, all is not well at Manchester United. The Red Devils are clinging onto fourth spot and Champions League qualification at the time of writing, but with the likes of Liverpool and Spurs charging towards them, the last 10 games of the season could provide a shift.
Whatever happens, the coming window looks likely to be a big one for United, with getting in a top class goalscorer something likely to be on the agenda. However, LVG may already have one in the shape of Javier Hernandez… The ‘Little Pea’ is currently on loan at Real Madrid after being deemed surplus to requirements last year, and despite playing a limited role, his goal and assist return in Spain is far better than that of any United player.
Hernandez averages 1.20 goals every 90 minutes in La Liga action, making him almost three times as prolific as Rooney, while his 0.4 assists per game is over four times superior than Van Persie’s return!
