Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed Marcus Rashford's impressive recent form.

What did he say?

The England international endured a difficult start to the season, going on a drought of just one goal in seven games in the Premier League. But since netting against Liverpool a few weeks ago, he has entered a rich rein of form, scoring six times in seven matches.

And speaking ahead of United's derby clash against Manchester City at the weekend, Solskjaer hailed his forward's recent streak, and challenged him to maintain his consistency over a longer period of time.

He said (as quoted by The Manchester Evening News): "He is doing that at the moment and how he didn’t get the goal against Villa is beyond me, he’s consistently now scoring 10 in the last 11 or whatever but it’s not like four in one and two or three without, it’s not just in spurts but he’s consistently getting chances, and into better positions and on Wednesday night he was unbelievable and hope to see that again."

Consistency

Since the return of Anthony Martial from injury, Rashford has been able to operate from the left-hand side for United where he has been at his destructive best. Against Tottenham, his teammate was out injured, but instead of Solskjaer turning back to the academy product as his number nine again, he chose to play Mason Greenwood in the role.

It meant Rashford could continue from the flank, and his two goals capped off an impressive performance and result for both himself and his team. As per Transfermarkt, in the ten games he has played on the left-wing this season, he has scored eight times and provided a further three assists - a total that means he averages more than a goal contribution per game.
