Ed Woodward just doesn't help himself, does he? Manchester United's executive vice-chairman has been at the centre of attention for a long time now, and not in a good way. Many supporters of the club have taken to protesting against his work at Old Trafford, and it is understandable to see why.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson bowed out of football, the Red Devils haven't even come close to winning the Premier League title again, and this season fell once again into the Europa League. Their start to the current campaign doesn't bode well for the future either, already languishing in seventh in the top-flight, and nine points off fourth-placed Manchester City.

But speaking after the club posted their latest financial figures, Woodward insisted they have a "clear vision in terms of football philosophy and recruitment" and that the significant investments that we have made in recent years in areas such as transfers, recruitment infrastructure, analytics and our academy are already beginning to bear fruit."

After hearing the 48-year-old's latest comments, United fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the situation.

Many supporters of the Manchester side appeared to be exasperated by Woodward's defence of the club's current state, and insisted quite simply that he is in "extreme denial".
