Having started the new campaign with a brace in the opening Premier League game of the season against Chelsea, Marcus Rashford appears to be going through a bit of dry spell in terms of goals.
The England international has three goals in total, but two of them have come via penalties. Against FC Astana in the Europa League on Thursday, the 21-year-old once again struggled in front of goal, seeing his five attempted shots fail to beat the goalkeeper.
Speaking after the game however, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer leapt to his defence, insisting he isn’t worried at all by the striker’s run of poor form.
The Norwegian reiterated Rashford is still young and that he is still yet to approach the peak years of his career.

After hearing Solskjaer’s comments, United fans flooded to Twitter to vent their frustrations at seeing their manager continue to defend their goal-shy centre-forward.
Many Red Devils supporters slammed the United boss, and insisted Rashford is simply proving that he isn’t cut out to be a striker.
Some fans even suggested Solskjaer’s continued protection of the 21-year-old is one of the reasons why he continues to under-perform.
Check out some of the reaction of United fans below:
So a club like MANCHESTER UNITED have to wait until he’s 27 to score 20+ goals?. He’s got a ton of games for his age. Age is just a number. If you’re good enough, you’re old enough. Rashbeck can’t lead this team into a glory

He’s definitely not a striker

Liar…Pato, Robinho and even Mbappe hit their peak before 21…Luis Suarez was banging goals for fun at 24

Solskjær goofed already, Lukaku steady hitting double figures at his age- Owen, Rooney, Mbappe, When you openly state “I don’t have to worry about” your striker missing goals.

Statement like this makes the player misbehave even more. Smh

After 200 top flight games for club & country he’s still learning to finish? Lukaku was younger than 26 but you let him go before his peak despite him actually scoring goals despite his negatives. Incredible from united here. Whole club is rubbish juice

How old is Mbappe or how old was Rooney? This man lie effortlessly nowadays and I’m beginning to dislike him!

This is a naive statement…Mbappe had over 60 goals last season…maybe if he played in EPL, that might be 30-40 but then, isn’t he 21 also? Isn’t that peak period. Or will Mbappe at 26-27 be scoring 80 goals? What’s peak if not 60 goals

Rooney was over the hill by 27! So was Best! This is nonsense.
