Man Utd target Jack Grealish would “walk” into the team, says Gabriel Agbonlahor

Speaking to Stadium Astro, former Aston Villa man Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed Jack Grealish “would walk” into the current Manchester United side.

What did he say?

Reports in recent weeks have claimed the Red Devils have earmarked Grealish as a potential signing to help boost Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s options in attacking midfield.

But whilst Agbonlahor revealed that he believes the Villa captain would instantly improve United, he did not believe he should be looking to leave the Midlands club anytime soon.

He said (as quoted by The Daily Mail): “Villa might say, ‘You know what, it’s going to cost you £70m.’ I think Man United pay it. He’d walk into that side, they’re missing that creativity. I think he walks into that United side, you’ve seen the troubles with Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata. But I just think Villa aren’t going to want to sell him no matter what.

“I just think he could fit into those teams. But I don’t think he wants to leave Villa. Villa are a massive club, big history, if they can get the right players in the summer, he’s the captain, the team will be built around him. There’s some times you don’t want to leave.”

Creativity

As Agbonlahor alludes to, signing Grealish would go a long way to solving United’s lack of genuine creativity. Juan Mata has averaged just 0.9 key passes per game in the Premier League, whilst Jesse Lingard has only marginally fared better with 1.1 per match.

Grealish on the other hand has been running the show for Villa, pulling the strings either from central areas or out wide on the left. He is averaging 2.7 key passes per game, whilst he has also provided five assists in the Premier League this season – Mata and Lingard have combined for just two in total.
