When you think of Jesse Lingard in 2020, the first thing that probably comes up is what he does on social media. And doesn't that just say everything? The Manchester United man had an awful 2019 that saw him go from January to November without scoring a single goal.

On the other hand, his teammate at international level with England, James Maddison, has enjoyed a very fruitful period at Leicester. The play-maker has scored nine times this season whilst also providing a further three assists. And according to The Daily Mirror, United are very keen on taking him to Old Trafford - but with a surprising twist.

After hearing about the extraordinary links, United fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the matter, with a few simply insisting that the offer is "insulting" to Leicester.

A couple of fans were critical of Ed Woodward's role in drawing up such a plan, with one supporter in particular urging Leicester not to take him seriously.

Some supporters of the Manchester side appeared to have a laugh over the offer, claiming that Lingard's inclusion in the deal didn't actually add any value to it.

As a lot of these United fans have made clear, this rumoured deal does seem to sway towards the bizarre side. Maddison has proven himself to be one of the Premier League's finest attacking midfielders in a side that is now competing to qualify for Champions League football by finishing in the top three. On the other hand, Lingard endured a nightmare 2019 and is featuring for a team that have just gone up and down this season. It's incredibly difficult to see the Foxes pay much attention if this offer came through the fax machine at the King Power Stadium.

Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's praise of this fringe man is ominous for one of Manchester United's key stars.
