Once a Red Devil, always a Red Devil.

Despite the fact Jose Mourinho was sacked as Manchester United manager more than a year ago, it appears the Portuguese man still has some fondness for one of his old sides.

The current Tottenham boss jokingly wondered whether the Red Devils would be handed the 2018 Premier League trophy, following Manchester City's breach of Financial Fair Play and subsequent two-season ban from the Champions League.

He said (as quoted by The Evening Standard): "I have to ask if the team that finished second in 2018 is going to be champions. Yes or no? That would be interesting but joking apart, I just wait calmly."

After hearing Mourinho's comments, United fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on their former manager.

A couple of United fans simply expressed how much they still love Mourinho.

One fan meanwhile claimed that even despite him leaving the club, Mourinho is still doing more than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer "for the benefit of the club".

Another supporter even called for the club to bring Mourinho back.

Say what you will of Mourinho, but the Portuguese man certainly has a sense of humour.

And if indeed City do suffer some repercussions from the Premier League too, then Mourinho may well be getting his hands on yet another title, albeit in very different circumstances.

Mourinho's produced some incredible footballing stars - how much do you know about them?

It's a situation that he will surely be keeping an eye on, and leaving a space in his trophy cabinet for if things turn out in his and United's favour.

Meanwhile, this could be Man Utd's starting XI to face Chelsea.
