According to Sky in Italy (via Sky Sports), Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Odion Ighalo ahead of a potential loan move.

What's the word?

In what has been a frantic deadline day, it appears the Red Devils may finally be edging closer to getting a striker in before the close of play.

Sky in Italy claim the Manchester side have "reached an agreement" with Ighalo on personal terms and salary over a six-month loan from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua, with there being an option to buy.

The report further claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are now in contact with their counterparts to finalise the move, with a medical potentially being held China.

Inching ever closer

Whether Ighalo is the man United wanted all along is certainly up for debate. But as the deadline approaches, beggars cannot be choosers. And in the Red Devils' case, they simply need to get on with things when it comes to their pursuit of the Nigerian forward.

They need someone in to help ease the burden on Anthony Martial up front, particularly with Marcus Rashford out injured too. So whilst Ighalo may not have been their first-choice (the Manchester side had seen a £20m bid rejected for Bournemouth's Josh King rejected earlier in the day), he would represent a vital attacking addition nonetheless.

Meanwhile, Simon Stone has delivered a teasing update on Man Utd's transfer plans.
