Could 2020 finally be the year in which the Paul Pogba transfer saga reaches its end?

The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Manchester United for quite some time now, but saw a move to the likes of Juventus or Real Madrid fail to come to fruition.

It was claimed in recent weeks that the midfielder still has his heart set on an exit from Old Trafford, and now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the only thing stopping him from doing so is United's valuation.

It's suggested the Red Devils have set an asking price of €100m (£83m), and that both Juventus and Madrid both consider the fee to be too high. It's further added that Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, will try to convince United to lower their demands "especially as Pogba will have only one year remaining on his contract after this season".

After hearing about the latest update on the France World Cup winner, United fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the situation.

A couple of fans took the opportunity to slam the United board, with one supporter in particular suggesting that their main focus is about "money".

One fan meanwhile appeared to suggest that the money involved would only be good enough to buy Jesse Lingard.

Another supporter however simply said they should give Pogba away for free instead of getting any money for him.

It's understandable that some fans of the Manchester side are quite keen to get every little penny out of a potential Pogba sale.

And after all, having paid £89m to sign him, they don't exactly want to be making a loss on him. But perhaps for the greater good of their side, and amidst this reported intent to rebuild the team with young and exciting players, they may be better off by simply cutting their losses on Pogba.

It may not make the most business sense, but it would allow them to make a fresh start.

Meanwhile, Michael Carrick has hailed this ace's performances.
