Speaking to the club's official website, Manchester United ace Scott McTominay has delivered a glowing verdict on teammate Fred.

What did he say?

The Brazil international has established himself as a key part of first-team squad at Old Trafford this season, making 31 appearances across all competitions.

In the Premier League alone, the £47m man has started and completed the full 90 minutes in United's last 18 games, and McTominay has been quick to praise what the midfielder has done.

He said: "He is a pleasure to play alongside and he is a great guy as well. We get on really well and have a good relationship off the pitch. He's a pleasure to work with and he's a player who I admire a lot.

"He has come on leaps and bounds in the past few months, and he deserves all of the credit he is getting at the minute. Long may it continue as well."

Partnership

Make no mistake about it, when McTominay returns to full fitness, United will have their starting central midfield duo once again. The duo were part of the heartbeat of the side in victories over the likes of Manchester City at the Etihad, and Tottenham at Old Trafford.

But with McTominay gone, Fred has had to step up his game even more in his absence. And to the Brazilian's credit, he has done exactly that. As per Whoscored, he has averaged a match rating of over seven in nine of his last 12 Premier League games - quite the impressive feat.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will no doubt be relishing the prospect of once again fielding a McTominay/Fred midfield axis sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, Man Utd should turn to this academy starlet as a potential successor to Paul Pogba.
