Manchester United fans have been reacting to a late transfer window link with AFC Bournemouth striker Joshua King.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Thursday evening that United had failed with a bid for a player who graduated from the club’s youth academy.

United are said to be keen to sign a striker following Marcus Rashford’s injury but fans were significantly underwhelmed by the prospect of bringing the Norway international back to the club.

Indeed, two other supporters claimed that King simply has the wrong profile to play up front for United, calling for the club to instead target a more physical forward.

What could've been... Can you name the clubs these football legends almost joined?

King has struggled this season, scoring a mere three Premier League goals, and is just 5ft 9in.

He has been with Bournemouth since 2015, scoring 47 goals in 160 games for the club.

King made just two appearances for United, totalling 14 minutes, against Galatasaray in the Champions League in 2012 and Wolves in the League Cup in 2009.

Meanwhile, one Manchester United man has been hailed as "absolutely wonderful".
