After selling Romelu Lukaku to Serie A giants Inter in the summer, and then failing to sign a replacement before the end of the window, it is unsurprising that Manchester United have looked a touch short on goals this season.
The Red Devils have found the back of the net just 32 times in their opening 21 Premier League games, and have 18-year-old Mason Greenwood as their third-choice option up front.

According to Goal, United have turned their attentions towards Wolves striker Raul Jimenez in this January transfer window. The report claims that the Red Devils have “moved to open talks” regarding a transfer for the Mexican, particularly following Erling Braut Haaland’s decision to join Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks. It adds that negotiations are at an early stage however, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer himself admitting after the FA Cup clash against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side that he’s a “good player“.

I doubt that they would let their two key players go. Jimenez is a beast, and our attackers definitely needs a world class striker among them.
But we still need two new midfielders. A creative one and one who can bring the winning mentality back to our talented squad! #MUFC

If we are genuinely after Jimenez and Neves, I’m impressed. Either would be great signings.

A couple of fans discussed Jimenez’s style of play and wondered how we would fit into the current United team, with there appearing to be a split on whether his profile is what the Red Devils need.
Why do people think Raul Jimenez would be a good signing? What does he actually offer us? Not clinical, not the fastest, can’t play as a target man and for 65m or whatever the fee is it’s robbery
This is what ole means when he says we need to sign the right type of player#MUFC

I like Jimenez, mobile, hardworking centre forward. His record is about 1/3 goals to games domestically but is more prolific in European competition. Would offer something different for MUFC in terms of being an actual No.9

Some fans discussed whether Jimenez would actually be starting for Solskjaer, and questioned whether he is good enough to displace Anthony Martial from the starting line-up.
Lol Bench?…He is better than Martial

This season, the Mexico international has been in prolific form for Wolves, notching 17 times in 32 games across all competitions. But the 28-year-old has shown that he is more than just a goal-scorer too, providing an impressive nine assists. And with Premier League experience under his belt, he could be the ideal man for Solskjaer’s side, and would be able to hit the ground running.
