Manchester United ace opens door to Old Trafford exit

Patrice Evra (Manchester United)Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra has hinted that he may leave the club at the end of the season.

The French international’s future at Old Trafford has been the subject of much doubt since David Moyes’ arrival, with the Scot openly chasing the signatures of Leighton Baines and Fabio Coentrao over the summer.

It is thought that the ex-Everton chief is ready to phase the veteran defender out in place of a younger name, which has led to rumours that Evra may return to Ligue 1.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, the 32-year-old has hinted that he could run his deal down before leaving United.

“No, not at all,” Evra told The Metro when asked if he was concerned about his contractual situation.

“It is a personal thing. It is not that Manchester United do not want me to sign a new contract.

“Manchester United would like me to finish my career there, but this is something personal.”

Wealthy French sides Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco – Evra’s former club – are both keen on the experienced defender.

It is expected that Moyes will up his pursuit of a new left-back in January.

Would David Moyes be making a mistake if he lets Patrice Evra leave?
