Manchester United back in for playmaker

Manchester United are ready to revive their interest in Wesley Sneijder once the January transfer window opens, according to reports from The Guardian.

The Red Devils came close to signing the Dutchman last year, but eventually their interest cooled and he went on to pen a deal with Galatasaray just under 12 months ago.

Despite Senijder having been in Istanbul for a relatively short period of time, David Moyes is ready to test the Turkish club’s willingness to hold onto the midfield ace with a winter offer.

The Scot is desperate to add some guile to his engine room, and sees the former Real Madrid, Ajax and Inter Milan man as a player who can significantly improve his current ranks.

The Premier League champions are currently 13 points adrift of leaders Arsenal and occupy a lowly ninth position, with their dysfunctional midfield a major cause of their woes.

Sneijder has a release clause of around £13m, and is thought to be open to joining a club in one of the continent’s top divisions after being urged to do so by Holland coach Louis van Gaal in a bid to boost his chances of playing in the 2014 World Cup.
