Manchester United boss focused on Capital One Cup challenge

Manchester United manager David Moyes is fully focused on winning the Capital One Cup, reports Sky Sports.

The Scot is under pressure at Old Trafford, after losing to Swansea in the FA Cup at Old Trafford last weekend. The defeat was Moyes’ 5th home loss in all competitions.

But the United boss isn’t feeling the pressure, and insists he will be looking to win the semi-final, instead of resting key players:

“Our approach to Sunderland had to have the FA Cup game in mind because it was two matches in 48 hours,” Moyes said.

“It has always been vital for us to win every game and get to every final if we can. There is a job in front of us in every competition we enter. We have got to overcome Sunderland in a two-game match to reach the final.

“It will be a difficult game and difficult to judge exactly how the first leg will go. But we will try to get ourselves to the cup final if we can.”

Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Michael Carrick are all expected to return to the first team, after sitting out the defeat to Swansea. However, striker Robin van Persie remains doubtful, with no return date being made public for the injured Dutchman.
