Manchester United manager David Moyes has been handed a sensational £150million transfer budget, and has set his sights on Paris St Germain superstar striker Edinson Cavani, according to the Daily Star.
The United boss was informed of his transfer budget at a meeting with chief executive Ed Woodward and other directors.
And it is understood Moyes discussed the possibility of bringing Uruguayan forward Cavani to Old Trafford in the summer, with the striker thought to be keen on a Premier League move.
Cavani, 26, only completed a £55million deal to PSG in the summer from Napoli.
But while he remains happy in Paris, he has been unimpressed by the quality of the French League, and wants to follow in the footsteps of international teammate Luis Suarez, by taking the Premier League by storm.
Cavani has previously been a transfer target for Chelsea, who may well reignite their interest in the summer, while Arsenal and Manchester City have also been linked.
But Moyes believes the forward is a ready made replacement for Wayne Rooney, with the England striker linked with a move away in the summer, as he has just one year remaining on his current contract.
United have also targeted a host of midfielders, including Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan and Marco Reus, and Atletico Madrid playmaker Koke.
United have also targeted Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler, who has a £37million buy-out-clause in his contract, although the young German has been heavily linked with Arsenal.
