Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was confirmed that Borussia Dortmund had signed Erling Braut Håland from RB Salzburg on a four-and-a-half year contract for a fee of around £17m.

The highly-rated Norwegian youngster - who has scored a quite staggering 28 goals across all competitions this season - was a target for the Red Devils, with United even matching Håland's release clause only for Solskjaer's side to refuse the finer conditions of the transfer.

As a result, it is Dortmund who have landed the 19-year-old, who scored eight goals in six Champions League group stage games for RB Salzburg this term and has an eye-catching four hat-tricks in all competitions as well.

The teenager will officially join up with the Bundesliga side on January 3rd, and leaves United empty-handed in this fruitless transfer pursuit.

Given the high-profile of Håland due to his ridiculous goalscoring numbers this season, his move to Dortmund has got a number of United fans on Twitter talking.

One supporter named Mike thinks that Dortmund's capture of Håland is "cause for concern" given Solskjaer's relationship with the striker, as in spite of that, the United boss still couldn't get the youngster to become a Red Devil - Solskjaer managed Håland at Molde.

Additionally, the fan below also expressed similar concern, before asking if United are still able to attract quality players.

However, these two fans didn't sound as concerned, stating that they're glad the club didn't sign Håland.

The first supporter said that "midfield should be the priority" instead of the Norway international, whereas another fan named Donald said that they'd rather have RB Leipzig star Timo Werner at the club.

Elsewhere, this fan didn't sound too happy with Ed Woodward after hearing the news of Dortmund's latest capture.

Lastly, this particular supporter didn't sound too fussed with the news, making the presumption that "most of us hadn't heard" of Håland six months ago, and that he won't be at Dortmund for long anyway.

In other news, Solskjaer was full of praise for this Manchester United player after the 2-0 win over Burnley...
