Manchester United eye Porto ace

Manchester United are plotting a big money summer move for Porto striker Jackson Martinez, according to reports from TuttoMercato.

The Colombia international is thought of as one of European football’s top goal-getters, and has been strongly linked with both Arsenal and Chelsea over the course of the season.

But now United chief David Moyes is ready to wade into the action as he ups his transfer plans ahead of the summer.

Although reinforcements in defensive and midfield areas are seen as a priority by the Scot, he is also keen to bolster his team’s firepower in a bid to return Champions League football to Old Trafford at the end of the 2014/15 campaign.

Scouts from the Red Devils have been assessing follow Porto star Eliaquim Mangala for some time, and are believed to have also been impressed by Martinez.

The 27-year-old is also wanted by the likes of Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, but United are hopeful that a serious offer could see him added to Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie in their attacking armoury.

Martinez is likely to cost around £20m.
