Manchester United eye up former Chelsea boss

Manchester United are considering a sensational move to bring Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti back to the Premier League as a replacement for David Moyes, according to the Daily Star.

The United bosses are weighing up their options for the summer should they decide Moyes has to go, and the former Chelsea manager is understood to be in contention.

Ancelotti finds himself under serious pressure at the Bernabeu, after back-to-back La Liga defeats which have dented Real’s title hopes.

He now faces a must-win clash with Borussia Dortmund in the last eight of the Champions League this week – after the Germans beat Real convincingly in last season’s semi-final.

Ironically, Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is being tipped to succeed Ancelotti at the Spanish giants, while he has also been linked with the Manchester United job, as well as Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone.

Moyes has come under severe pressure at Old Trafford following heavy defeats at home to Liverpool and Manchester City.

United face a tough quarter final clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening, where another heavy defeat may prove the final nail in Moyes’s coffin.

Ancelotti has a proven track record in the Premier League, having lead Chelsea to the Premier League and FA Cup double in his first season as manager in 2009-10.
