Manchester United face battle for South American starlet

Bruno Gomes (Desportivo Brasil)Manchester United will have to beat Udinese if they are to sign Brazilian youngster Bruno Gomes, according to reports from The Express.

The 18-year-old was on trial with the Red Devils last season, with whom he impressed.

He was widely expected to pen an official contract with the Premier League champions at the earliest date possible, but they have, as of yet, failed to do so.

Former chief Sir Alex Ferguson was a big admirer of the wonderkid, however David Moyes appears to be less convinced.

United hold first refusal on the striker thanks to an agreement in place with his club Desportivo Brasil.

But, Udinese are now interested, and could swoop to take him to Italy.

As part of the deal with Desportivo, United would be powerless if the Serie A side offer a figure above a certain level.

They are reportedly now ready to do this as interest in current star striker Luis Muriel continues to increase.

The Colombian is wanted by multiple teams across Europe, including Liverpool.

Udinese have a reputation for moulding South American talent, with now Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez having earned his reputation at the club.
