Bayer Leverkusen have entered the race to sign highly rated Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan this summer, according to the Daily Express.
Gaitan has impressed for the Portuguese club who were cruelly beaten in the Europa League final on Wednesday night by Chelsea in Amsterdam.
The pacey winger has been on the radar of Manchester United for the past year and the Premier League champions are set to make a £25million bid this summer even with David Moyes taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson.
United are keen to add a world class winger to their attire after injury and poor form has hampered the likes of Ashley Young, Ryan Giggs, Nani and Antonio Valencia this season.
Leverkusen are desperate to replace Chelsea-bound Andre Schurrle and could use his entire transfer fee to replace him.
Gaitan would prefer a move to the Premier League but Benfica will demand United cough up the same fee as Leverkusen if they are to get their man.
