Manchester United were able to defeat Inter Milan 1-0 last Saturday as academy starlet Mason Greenwood was on the scoresheet.
His substitute appearance was one of the major plus points from the game but there was still some negativity surrounding one individual.
Ashley Young was booed by the fans in Singapore, an act that didn’t please Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Per journalist Samuel Luckhurst on Twitter, he said the following:
Solskjaer on fans booing Ashley Young: He always gives absolutely everything and his delivery ended up with a goal. We want fans to support our players and Ash has been a very loyal servant to this club.’ #mufc

And reacting to Young’s treatment on Twitter, many supporters didn’t take kindly to the way he’d been treated by those inside the stadium.
One fan claimed it was absolutely disgusting, urging for support if he was wearing the shirt. Another individual said he deserved respect whilst one even labelled the behaviour as embarrassing.
The 5 foot 9 United man captained the side for a period last term but his performances on the pitch have seemingly led to the 34-year-old being booed by certain fans.
The versatile defender contributed to four goals in 2018/19 but picked up a red card towards the end of the season against Wolves.
Here’s the best of the reaction from Solskjaer’s quotes.
It’s absolutely disgusting isn’t it, quite frankly. If he wears that shirt, you support him. End of.

I understand fans who are frustrated w/ Young’s continued presence in the team. He won the lottery. He gets to play for a club far above his ability. He’s doing what any of us would do in his situation. But he NEVER complains. He doesn’t deserve to be booed. Boo Woodward.

Nobody should be booed by their own so called fans disgraceful

Ashley young gives his all for the club . He deserves respect. The manager is right about that

Shouldn’t be booed end of story

It’s a disgrace. How can you boo a player for not being good enough? Okay, criticise them for effort or a perceived lack of respect/loyalty for the club, whatever. But if they don’t think Young is good enough, they should be booing the manager, not him. Entitled fans

The Ashley Young hatred has become so widespread, Singaporean United fans are booing him. It’s absurd considering Jones and Smalling get a free pass, even though they’ve been poor their entire United careers. Young is really poor because he’s done.

Exactly my words. Embarrasing behaviour. Dislike him and question his footballing ability if you want, but his commitment and professionalism shouldn’t be neglected. Agreed that he shouldn’t start for United at right back and that he shouldn’t captain the club either, though.

Always gives 100% effort and commitment. Might not be the best player but the level of abuse he gets from some of “fans” is a disgrace.
