Manchester United were defeated in the English Premier League on Friday night, losing 1-0 away to Brighton & Hove Albion.
While it was a game that has little meaning for the Red Devils, who are likely to finish second in the table, it was a still a frustrating evening for supporters, who are hoping to see continual progress under Jose Mourinho.
The United manager chose to start with an attack that included Marcus Rashford, his first since a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth last month.
The 20-year-old failed to impress throughout, prompting a debate about his future in the first team at Old Trafford.
Some supporters feel he is being mismanaged by Mourinho while other believe a spell out on loan could do him the world of good next season.
With no goals in his last 11 appearances, it’s certainly a situation that needs addressing regardless of the solution.
Fans took to Twitter to discuss his role at United during and after Friday’s match…
From yesterday's performance it is clear Rashford and Martial are not ready for the top level. For #MUFC to compete they need ready made players in place of Martial and Rashford.

Rashford going out on loan doesn't seem so bad now does it? #mufc

Rashford started off his career with big prospects. But he's now turned himself in a footballer that doesn't use his football brain and makes wrong choices on his quest for goal. Even his mourinho no longer trusts him to start#MUFC

Here’s an idea – Rashford out on loan? He plays better when he plays regularly, which he isn’t at United at the moment. Let him go, grow and then bring him back when he is the more complete player that Mourhino wants? #mufc #ManchesterUnited #Justathought

So – are Rashford, Martial, Shaw etc just not good enough, or is Mourinho just failing to develop them? Need to resolve this quickly or a plane with a banner will be over Old Trafford. #mufc

In my opinion best solution of Rashford and Martial situation is to send them on loan next season. Both are still very young and hugely talented they need experience. Let them develop and come back more stronger. #MUFC

The “potential” Rashford has is MAD! Quick powerful instinctive player but his football IQ is low. He needs to be COACHED! He needs to be drilled cos when he’s left to his own devices he looks average! Anyone wonder why Smalling looked like a worldie under LvG? STRUCTURE #mufc

Martial, Shaw and Rashford are confidence players. Need to play regardless of performance for a few games to find form. They never will under Jose because he expects players to be outstanding when they haven't started for 3 or 4 games. Poor man manager #mufc
