Manchester United fans are devastated after reports claimed they have fallen out of the race to sign Matthijs de Ligt.
De Ligt didn’t cover himself in glory during the UEFA Nations League, atoning for a mistake against England with an impressive goal only to be caught out of position for Portugal’s winning strike on Sunday.
However, now that his season is officially over the transfer saga surrounding the 19 year-old will no doubt kick into overdrive, and RAC1 journalist Gerard Romero has some bad news for Red Devils fans.
United’s proposal has fallen by the way side, according to Romero, leaving Barcelona, PSG and Juventus to fight for the Dutchman’s signature.
Plenty of United fans saw the teenager as the heir to the throne in their defence, perhaps hoping he would have the same transformative effect that his compatriot Virgil van Dijk has had at Liverpool.
That now appears to be off the table though, and the Twitter reactions down below are not taking it too well…

See how we have gotten as a club, quality players no longer see us as a right CLUB to sign up for
This is as a result of Ed Woodward and the Glazers Cluelessness about football business.
