Manchester United fans handed good news as star player decides to commit

Long-serving Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick is to be offered a new 12 month deal at Old Trafford, if reports in the Daily Mirror are to be believed.

The 33 year-old is adamant that he wants to remain at the club, which has persuaded Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal and his right-hand man Ryan Giggs to grant his wishes for a contract for another season.

Carrick is currently on £130,000-a-week and is likely to be offered a further 12 month option on top of his year-long extension.

He was a regular starter for United under Van Gaal until a calf injury saw him sidelined and out of the starting eleven.

Carrick has featured 13 times for United in the Premier League this season, and has in total made more than 350 appearances for the club, winning five Premier League titles.

Following the Red Devils’ 2-1 loss against Swansea on Saturday, United sit in 4th place in the league with 47 points.
