It has been a dismal few days for Manchester United fans as they try to come to terms with the fact that they were knocked out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage.

After the draw was made, Jose Mourinho’s side were favourites to progress at the expense of Sevilla, but it was not to be.

It could be suggested that the goalless draw in the first leg in Spain was where it all went wrong for United, whose fans blasted the scoreline on social media.

The Red Devils failed to nab that all-important away goal and they were punished in the second leg as Sevilla ran out 2-1 winners.

The lacklustre performance from Mourinho’s men has been roundly criticised, and now, the club’s only chance of winning silverware is by going all the way in the FA Cup.

The team will switch focus to the domestic competition this weekend when they take on Brighton in the quarter-finals.

Extra pressure will be on the players’ shoulders due to the recent Champions League exit, and Matic has claimed that the team will ‘give everything’ to reach the semi-finals.

It seems, though, that the fans are not yet over Tuesday’s failure.
