Manchester United fans on Twitter want Zidane to replace Mourinho

According to L’Equipe, former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane wants to take over at Manchester United at the end of the current season, and United fans on Twitter have been buzzing with the rumour.

In two-and-a-half years as boss at Madrid, Zidane won three consecutive Champions League titles and won La Liga in his first full season.

The 46-year-old left Los Blancos at the end of last season having secured the third straight European title with a 3-1 win over Liverpool in Kiev, although his side were third in La Liga – 17 points behind rivals Barcelona.

United won their first game of the season last Friday, beating Leicester 2-1, but it has hardly been an easy summer at Old Trafford. Mourinho was generally in a foul mood during preseason and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward angered the Portuguese manager further by rejecting his transfer targets, which were deemed as short-term fixes by the club according to The Guardian.

Now after just one game of the season, United fans on Twitter have been urging the club to replace Mourinho with Zidane. Check out some of the best tweets below.
