After seeing £75m striker Romelu Lukaku net just 15 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions last season, it's been little surprise to see Manchester United being open to selling the 26-year-old this summer.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Serie A giants Inter are very much interested in the Belgian's services, and now according to Spanish publication ABC de Sevilla, United are eyeing up Wissam Ben Yedder as his potential replacement.

It claims Ben Yedder's reported £35.8m release clause is appealing to the Red Devils and that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been left suitably impressed by the France international's goal-scoring record.

The links to Ben Yedder - who scored 30 goals last year - saw United fans take to Twitter and many voiced their approval of signing the Sevilla marksman.

Many felt that the 28-year-old is in the prime years of his career and pointed out that the striker scored twice at Old Trafford to knock the Red Devils out of the Champions League last 16 in 2018.

Others however were slightly more underwhelmed by the potential signing and questioned whether the 5ft 7in star was the calibre of player needed to realistically challenge at the top of the Premier League with Manchester City and Liverpool.

Indeed, some even suggested that the club's priority in the window should be looking for defensive reinforcements rather than trying to sign a new striker.
